Our Bespoke Collection is drawn from the many unique and interesting vacation rentals The Mad River Valley has to offer.
In the 40's and 50's, bungalow-style vacation homes and rustic cabins were built to accommodate the pioneering skiers of Mad River Glen, who had maxed out the available old farm houses and the few rooms available at Ulla's Lodge (now the Hyde Away).
In the 60's and 70's, when the "Sugarbush Express" ran from Park Avenue and The Valley was at the center of an exploding ski culture, mid-century modern designs were added to the mix. More recently, this tradition of blending modern architecture into the Vermont landscape has continued with new builds like Sky Zen, while many of the original homes, like Mad River Ski Chalet, have been renovated and updated.
While there are a few multi-room Inns and B&Bs in the Valley, for the most part, development around Sugarbush was centered on condominiums, so most of the bedrooms on or near Sugarbush are in condos.
We still see the occasional new complex going up, but most are from the late-70's and 80's -- the heyday of condo development in Vermont. We specialize in units have been totally renovated or significantly updated.
These places are all about proximity, functionality, and fun.
If the extent of your planned meal prep is pasta and maybe breakfast, a 6 burner Viking range and a Chef's kitchen is overkill, but things like boot dryers or a mud/gear room are nice to have along with comfy linens, clean bathrooms, and a kitchen that has everything you need to fuel up to get outside.
